Ellen Drews-Ortlieb

When Ellen was a little girl she dreamed of horses and riding. She and her father would occasionally rent horses and ride together. At the age of 14 Ellen had saved enough money for her first horse Keno. Keno introduced her to the world of horses and she has never looked back.

Ellen has successfully shown in the Dressage, Hunter, Jumper, Three Day Event, Arabian, Side-saddle, Western and Competitive Trail Riding disciplines.  She has successfully represented Alberta as a rider in Provincial and National competitions.  Ellen coaches riders of all ages who wish to ride for pleasure at home or for competition at local, provincial, national and international competitions.

She has worked extensively with prominent trainers in North America and Europe. Ellen continues to update her knowledge by training many different types of horses and attending clinics. Her students have competed successfully throughout the years at Dressage, Hunter and Jumper tournaments.

Ellen offers her expertise in a variety of areas in the equestrian sport, from beginner rider or young horse to the upper level F.E.I. ring. She takes pride in the stages of equestrian teaching for all ages of riders interested in pursuing the sport. This includes private or group riding lessons, horsemanship clinics, summer camps and pony reading programs. Ellen has had great success in matching horse and rider combinations and offers local and international purchasing opportunities. Ellen has also studied at the University of Alberta and received her Bachelor of Education Degree, as well as her Interior Design Diploma from Mount Royal.

Ellen and Amberlea Meadows look forward to working with you to developing your equestrian goals!

Elexis Ortlieb

Elexis has spent her whole life around the horses of Amberlea Meadows and the equestrian community. She started riding with her mother, Ellen Ortlieb at an early age on her pony Toby. She then moved on to ride the Amberlea Meadows lesson horses with whom she had her first showing experiences.

Being able to compete at many Amberlea horse shows gave Elexis opportunities to explore dressage, hunter, jumper, equitation and hack classes. The opportunities of showing at home with lesson horses and later her own horses gave Elexis the education she needed to go on to compete at local, national and international competitions. Elexis has shown successfully from Introductory through to the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) level with various horses in Dressage.

She has competed at exciting locations such as the Kentucky Horse Park and Colorado Horse Park for the North American Junior Young Rider Championships winning bronze and silver medals for Dressage on two different mounts. Elexis trained and competed in Wellington Florida, as well as being the foreign rider representative at the FEI CDI in Las Vegas, Nevada. Today Elexis continues her quest as a rider by training with top equestrians as well as working to build the solid fundamentals for the horses well being and competition goals.
